The Voice Centre of the ENT Department of the Bufalini Hospital in Cesena is one of the most important centres for the diagnosis and the treatment of voice and swallowing disorders.The clinical-instrumental diagnosis is performed with the most up-to-date fiberoptic endoscopes, with stroboscopic and NBI light sources. Voice therapy is based upon individual and group rehabilitation sessions. Phonosurgery makes use of all the techniques that are currently performed in the best international voice centers: laryngeal microsurgery with “cold” instrumentation and CO2 laser, thyroplasty, fiberendoscopic phonosurgery with “cold” instrumentation and with KTP or CO2 laser fibers, phonatory valves. Surgical rehabilitation of dysphagia with fiberendoscopic or microlaryngoscopic interventions are also performed. In addition to the treatment of benign lesions of the vocal folds and of uni and bilateral paralysis of the vocal folds, we perform the most advanced oncological laryngeal surgery with CO2 laser (cordectomies, partial laryngectomies) as well as subtotal reconstructive laryngectomies.
Every year the Voice Center organizes courses on phonosurgery and voice therapy at the Bufalini Hospital in Cesena, with live surgery and an international faculty. These courses are attended by doctors and speech and language pathologists from all over the world.
